What does the cost of my puppy include?
Every pup that we sell receives a veterinary exam, first shots, and worming. All of our puppies are highly socialized. We have children and other animals, which our puppies are used to and enjoy. We feel that early socialization of puppies is a crucial part of your puppy becoming an excellent pet.
Our pups are paper trained. Paper trained we mean that if the pup is in a small enclosed area, with newspaper in one corner, the pup will normally go back to the paper to potty. This does not mean that you can put paper by the back door and expect your puppy to find it or even remember that it is there. Your puppy is a baby and must be monitored as such.
We highly encourage new pet owners to introduce their pup to a kennel/crate and employ crate training as a means of providing safety, controlling behavior, and teaching a pup to hold it's bladder. The earlier a crate is introduced the more a young pup will learn to accept it as a place of safety. While I could write volumes on this topic, the following link is a terrific source of info. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/cratetraining.htm
Unless otherwise noted the stated price is for limited AKC registration. It is our preference that our pups go to families and individuals who want them as pets. If you are interested in breeding we can discuss cost.

Deposits and Health Guarantee
Puppies pictured are available at this time, unless otherwise noted. Once a deposit has been received the puppy will be marked as sold. Deposits are $200 and are not refundable unless the puppy for which the deposit was made is no longer available for sale due to illness or injury. Should the animal of specification become unavailable, the deposit will either be refunded or transferred to a new puppy at the buyer's discretion.
All of our pups are vet checked prior to leaving our home. We guarantee them to be free of illness for 3 days after leaving our home. Please have your new puppy examined by your vet within that time to confirm our vet's assessment. Should an illness be found during that period, we will, at our discretion, either refund your payment, return the puppy in well condition, or exchange it for a puppy of equal value.

Expected Weight Range
Weight range expectations are an estimate. We give our best guess. Most of the time it is accurate, but sometimes a pup surprises us and gets larger or stays smaller than what we expect. There can be many reasons for this and unfortunately we cannot give a refund for that reason. We base our estimates on our 20+ years of experience, but again they are estimates. Please note that we are in the business of breeding healthy pets that conform to AKC Shih Tzu. We do not engage in the breeding of "dwarves," also know as "Imperial" Shih Tzus. Our personal experience says that there are health ramifications to reducing the size of the breed. Frankly we think that you will enjoy a 10 pound Shih tzu with a nice healthy life far more than a 4 pound one that is constantly ill and dies at an early age.
